I recently had drinks with a former boss to catch up and re-connect. During the course of our conversation, she shared that her current company is no longer actively following a marketing strategy. It turns out, the company’s CEO “doesn’t believe in marketing”. Probing, I learned there were no plans to actively promote or improve the product. Except for a few partnerships, marketing was not a part of the plan for driving revenue.

I’ve worked with, or worked for, several companies who have had a similar viewpoint. Recently, I read an article that took an opposing stance. Frankly, I wish I’d written the article as it captured my sentiments to a tee. A special thanks goes to
